Khalif Kairo Says He Rejected CEO Job Offer

Kenyan businessman and pilot Khalif Kairo has sparked widespread debate online after revealing that he recently turned down a lucrative CEO job offer worth Sh 900,000 per month, insisting that working for someone else would force him to abandon his own entrepreneurial ambitions.

Kairo made the revelation, after online users suggested that he should consider joining automotive marketplace Car Soko following the recent exit of one of the company’s most recognizable executives.

The conversation began shortly after Patrick Riang’a, popularly known online as Patrick Car Dealer, officially announced his departure from Car Soko on July 1, 2026.

Patrick had built a strong reputation in Kenya’s automotive industry through his aggressive marketing style, consistent customer engagement, and his highly visible partnership with internet sensation Goliath wa Bungoma. Over time, his presence became so dominant that many Kenyans mistakenly believed he was the actual owner of the company.

His sudden exit immediately triggered widespread speculation about who could step into the gap he had left behind.

As discussions intensified online, an X user identified as Josh suggested that Kairo could be the perfect candidate to fill the void at Car Soko. The user publicly proposed that Kairo should approach the company’s founder, Felix Limo, and negotiate a monthly package of approximately Sh 400,000.

The suggestion quickly gained traction among social media users, many arguing that Kairo’s already established personal brand in the automotive sector could help Car Soko maintain momentum after Patrick’s departure.

However, instead of entertaining the proposal, Kairo responded with a surprising revelation.

The businessman disclosed that he had recently declined an even bigger offer to take up a CEO role at a company, where he would have earned a monthly salary of Sh 900,000.

In his response, Kairo dismissed the idea of employment entirely, arguing that accepting such roles often forces ambitious individuals to sacrifice their own dreams in order to build someone else’s business empire.

He maintained that entrepreneurship remains his priority despite the challenges he has faced in recent months.
