ELDORET, Kenya – Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula and President William Ruto’s close aide Farouk Kibet are set to spearhead a high-profile “Tutam Kenya” rally in Eldoret City as the Kenya Kwanza coalition steps up its early mobilisation for the 2027 General Election.
The rally will be held at the Silverline Grounds along Ronald Ngala Street in Eldoret’s central business district, with a section of the road linking the CBD to Kisumu Road expected to be temporarily closed to facilitate the event.
The meeting, hosted by Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii, is expected to draw more than 30 MPs, senators, governors and regional leaders from the Rift Valley and Western Kenya, underlining the coalition’s renewed political push in President Ruto’s stronghold.
Kenya Kwanza leaders attending the rally will focus on voter registration, President Ruto’s performance scorecard, peace and national unity, while rallying supporters behind the President’s second-term “Tutam” bid.
Among those expected to attend are National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot, and legislators Sylvanus Osoro, Mwengi Mutuse, Oscar Sudi, Innocent Mugabe, John Bwire, Didmus Barasa and Japheth Nyakundi.
“Our main agenda will be unity, peace and keeping our people focused on development as we head towards the elections,” Farouk Kibet said ahead of the rally.
Farouk has emerged as a key mobiliser for President Ruto in both the Rift Valley and Western regions. He is also facing growing pressure from residents of Turbo Constituency to contest the parliamentary seat in the next election, although he has yet to formally declare his candidacy.
His slogan, “Turbo Kwanza, Mambo baadaye,” has gained traction locally, backed by several development initiatives he has rolled out in the constituency.
Uasin Gishu County remains President Ruto’s political backyard, though he recently expressed concern over low voter registration levels across the Rift Valley. Local leaders have since intensified campaigns urging residents to register ahead of next year’s polls.
The Eldoret CBD rally will mark the first major Kenya Kwanza political rally in the area in recent months, after the coalition previously focused on church engagements and economic empowerment forums.
