KAMPALA, Uganda — A senior delegation from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has begun high-level talks with Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania as preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations gather momentum.

The two-day meeting, held in Kampala from April 22 to 23, brings together representatives from the three co-hosting nations under the PAMOJA initiative, alongside CAF officials, to review progress and align on key delivery priorities.

The tournament, officially known as the Africa Cup of Nations 2027, will mark a historic joint hosting by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.

CAF’s delegation includes Acting Secretary General Samson Adamu and senior administrators from key departments such as competitions, broadcasting, safety and security, finance, and commercial operations.

The talks are expected to focus on critical areas of tournament delivery, including infrastructure development, procurement processes, security planning, media operations, ticketing, and overall coordination among the host nations.

Officials from the three governments and presidents of their respective football associations are also participating in the discussions, underscoring the multi-agency approach required to deliver the continental showpiece.

CAF said the meeting marks a significant step in strengthening coordination mechanisms as the hosts move into the next phase of preparations.

The governing body reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the three nations in building operational readiness and ensuring that all functional areas meet international standards ahead of the tournament.

The 2027 tournament is expected to boost regional integration and economic activity across East Africa, while also placing the spotlight on the region’s capacity to host major international sporting events.
