This exemption, which has been in place since December last year, will now run until December 31, 2025, easing the process for Kenyans wishing to visit China for periods of up to six months.
According to a statement issued by the embassy, the exemption applies to both single and double-entry visa applicants whose stay in China will not exceed 180 days.
This decision is expected to benefit a wide range of travelers, including those visiting China for business, tourism, family reunions, transit, or as part of a crew.
“From September 2, 2024, to December 31, 2025, the Embassy of China in Kenya exempts all applicants who apply for single or double-entry short-term visas (stay in China for no more than 180 days) from fingerprints collection,” read the embassy’s communique.
The exemption aims to streamline the visa application process, making it more convenient for Kenyans who frequently travel to China.
This includes business professionals, tourists, and those with family ties in China.
The Chinese Embassy in Nairobi offers various visa types for Kenyan nationals, including single-entry visas valid for three months, double-entry visas valid for six months, multiple-entry visas valid for six or twelve months, and group visas.
