NAIROBI, Kenya – A Nairobi court is this week expected to deliver a key ruling in a long-running corruption case involving former Transport and Infrastructure Cabinet Secretary Michael Kamau, as part of a packed anti-graft court schedule released by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
The ruling, set for Tuesday, June 24, at the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court, concerns charges against Kamau and two others over allegations of willful failure to comply with public finance procedures.
The case centers on a controversial decision during Kamau’s tenure that saw the resident engineer redesign a road initially handled by Engiconcult Consulting Engineers Ltd, a move that cost the taxpayer KSh33.3 million.
In a statement, the EACC confirmed the ruling as part of a broader court calendar covering multiple high-profile corruption cases between June 23 and 27.

Other major rulings expected this week include a KSh147 million suit against former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu and a KSh14 million recovery case involving Nathaniel Ahaza, formerly of the Vihiga County Government.
Meanwhile, the Anti-Corruption Court in Kisumu is also scheduled to deliver judgment on Thursday, June 26, in a 2013 case involving five individuals, including former Siaya County officials and private contractors, accused of conspiracy and abuse of office over a prefabricated office block project.
Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko is also expected in court this week, alongside 16 others, for the hearing of a case involving a suspected KSh24.1 million embezzlement from county coffers through companies linked to the accused.
Additional hearings this week target a wide range of officials from county governments and national institutions, including former National Museums of Kenya Director-General Dr. Mzalendo Kibunjia, who is accused—along with seven others—of being part of a conspiracy to embezzle KSh441.4 million in fraudulent salaries and gratuities.
Other notable mentions include a KSh531.4 million recovery suit against a former Machakos County official, and the high-profile cemetery land saga involving former Local Government PS Sammy Kirui and 13 others over the alleged irregular KSh283 million land deal.
The EACC’s weekly court schedule comes amid heightened public scrutiny of anti-corruption efforts and growing pressure on the judiciary to hold public officers accountable.
