NAIROBI, Kenya- The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and the National Treasury have clarified that suppliers doing business with government entities can submit valid invoices generated through either the Electronic Tax Invoice Management System (eTIMS) or the Tax Invoice Management System (TIMS).
In a public notice issued on October 15, the two agencies said both types of invoices are accommodated under the IFMIS–eTIMS integration.
They will, however, be subject to applicable validation requirements before they proceed through the government’s Integrated Financial Management Information System (IFMIS) payment workflow.
The clarification means suppliers do not need to use eTIMS exclusively for an invoice to be processed through the integrated system, provided the invoice is valid and meets the required checks.
KRA and the Treasury said the integration is designed to support invoice validation, streamline payment processes and strengthen tax compliance through automated verification.
The agencies said they would continue supporting government entities and suppliers as they implement and use the system, with the aim of facilitating invoice validation and the timely processing of legitimate supplier payments.
