NAIROBI, Kenya- Two women have been charged with conspiracy to defraud after a complainant allegedly paid Sh530,000 for 7,500 chicks that were never delivered.
Marysella Naswa Kanda and Angela Kendi appeared before the Chief Magistrate’s Court in Ngong, where they denied the charge under Section 317 of the Penal Code.
The complainant told investigators they ordered chicks valued at Sh1,387,500.
They allegedly deposited Sh350,000 into a Co-operative Bank account operated under Japlead Global Feed on September 13, 2026, followed by another Sh180,000 on September 16.
The account was owned by Kanda.
The complainant said the second payment was made after they were promised an early delivery, but no chicks were supplied.
Investigations began after the complainant reported the matter at Kiserian Police Station.
Officers later carried out an undercover operation, posing as prospective customers seeking to order chicks.
Kanda was arrested in Kitengela with the support of local police officers.
Kendi was also arrested in connection with the case.
The court released each accused on a Sh300,000 bond or a cash bail of Sh250,000.
The case will be mentioned on November 9, 2026.
