NAIROBI, Kenya – Kenya has launched its Presidential Directives Management Information System (PDMIS) and the Foreign Travel Information Management System (FOTIMS), marking a significant step towards increasing transparency and efficiency in government operations.
These digital tools, unveiled at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi on Monday, are designed to address growing concerns about the transparency of government decisions and the prudent use of public resources.
PDMIS is a groundbreaking tool that ensures the meticulous tracking and implementation of directives issued by President William Ruto.
By digitizing this process, the system guarantees that all presidential orders are executed promptly and accurately, reinforcing the authority of the office and improving public trust in the administration’s commitment to delivering on its promises.
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua highlighted the importance of PDMIS in his address, noting that it dignifies the presidency by ensuring that directives are not only issued but also followed through to completion.
This system eliminates any ambiguity surrounding presidential orders, making it easier to hold government officials accountable for their roles in the implementation process.
FOTIMS, on the other hand, streamlines the process of applying for, processing, and approving foreign travel for public servants.
This system is particularly crucial in promoting accountability and ensuring the responsible use of public funds.
By digitizing travel approvals, FOTIMS provides a clear record of expenses and justifications for trips, reducing the potential for misuse of resources.
Attorney General Dorcas Oduor, along with Cabinet Secretaries Dr. Margaret Ndung’u (ICT), Justin Muturi (Public Service), Beatrice Askul (EAC Affairs & Regional Development), Wycliffe Oparanya (Cooperatives and MSMEs), and various Principal Secretaries, joined Deputy President Gachagua at the launch.
