Dr Ofweneke Deletes Andrew Kibe’s Podcast After Backlash Over Remarks About Stevo Simple Boy

Kenyan media personality Dr Ofweneke has officially deleted his controversial podcast episode featuring outspoken commentator Andrew Kibe after receiving massive backlash from Kenyans online over remarks directed at musician Stevo Simple Boy.

The now-deleted episode sparked outrage after Kibe made deeply controversial statements suggesting that Stevo Simple Boy should never have children, comments that many social media users described as cruel, offensive, and completely uncalled for.

The controversy quickly escalated, forcing Ofweneke to publicly apologize and eventually pull down the entire interview from all his digital platforms.

The backlash began after Andrew Kibe appeared on Dr Ofweneke’s podcast for what initially seemed like a regular interview session. During the conversation, Kibe launched into a shocking rant where he advocated for what many online users identified as eugenics ideology.

Kibe argued that individuals like Stevo Simple Boy should not be allowed to reproduce. He went even further by suggesting that the singer should have undergone a vasectomy at birth.

The remarks immediately triggered widespread criticism, with many Kenyans condemning the statements as inhumane and discriminatory. Social media users particularly took issue with the fact that Dr Ofweneke appeared to laugh during parts of the conversation instead of immediately challenging the remarks.

Short clips from the podcast rapidly spread across platforms including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and X, turning the interview into one of the biggest entertainment controversies online this week.

As criticism intensified, Dr Ofweneke moved quickly to address the growing outrage. The comedian and digital creator released a public apology, admitting that as the host, he should have taken more responsibility during the conversation.

In his statement, Ofweneke accepted accountability for allowing the controversial remarks to air on his platform.

“I’m not going to shift blame to my guest or production team. I take full responsibility as the host,” he said while addressing the controversy.

He also revealed that before releasing the public apology, he personally reached out to Stevo Simple Boy to apologize directly for what had happened.

As pressure from the public continued building, Dr Ofweneke took an even bigger step by completely deleting the entire Andrew Kibe podcast episode from his digital channels.

Alongside removing the full interview, promotional clips that had already been circulating online were also taken down. The move appeared to be a direct response to the overwhelming criticism directed at both the host and his guest.

The deletion quickly became another major talking point online, with many users debating whether Ofweneke had acted responsibly by correcting the mistake or whether he had simply reacted to public pressure after the backlash became impossible to ignore.

Andrew Kibe has since responded to the situation, and true to his controversial online persona, he showed little concern over the backlash.

“Imebidi Ofweneke adelete ile podcast yetu juu ya pressure,” he wrote.

Translated loosely, Kibe was claiming that Ofweneke had been forced to take down their interview because he could not withstand public criticism. Kibe then doubled down even further by mocking the decision and writing:

“Mshenzi sana!” an insult in Kenyan slang, suggested that Kibe viewed Ofweneke’s decision to apologize and remove the content as weak.
