NAIROBI, Kenya- Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has asked Kenyans to give him up to four weeks before he publicly declares his political direction, saying the decision he is preparing to make is guided by the country’s future rather than personal political interests.

Speaking during a press conference in Nairobi on Saturday, Nyoro said he has spent months reflecting on Kenya’s political landscape and the leadership needed to steer the country forward.

“I have been thinking about the way forward. In the next three to four weeks, I’ll give the way forward on which team I’ll decide to move forward with,” Nyoro said.

The legislator stressed that his next political move would not be based on convenience or short-term political calculations.

“This decision is not about my political convenience, but what Kenya will become. The decision is the heaviest for me,” he said.

Nyoro, a former chairperson of the National Assembly’s Budget and Appropriations Committee, said he does not make rushed decisions and wanted to present Kenyans with a well-thought-out position.

“I don’t do things half-baked. Once I make a decision, I stand by it,” he said.

The MP acknowledged that he played a central role in campaigning for the Kenya Kwanza administration and said he understands why many Kenyans are keen to know his next political step.

He, however, appealed for patience, saying he had been working for months on ideas that would shape both his political alignment and his vision for the country.

“I have been working on something for the last many months around that question, objectively on the kind of Kenya we would like to have. It’s the kind that would dictate what kind of team we need to do this job,” he said.

Nyoro also urged Kenyans not to pressure him into making an announcement based on the current political climate.

“I plead with Kenyans so that I’m not pushed in the situation of the moment, as the storm has been ravaging me. It’s too weighty a decision to make,” he said.

He added that while he already has a clear idea of the direction he intends to take, he wants time to fully explain the thinking behind his decision.

“I request Kenyans to give me three to four weeks to share my specific views on the issue of political formations and things we need to do in terms of the Republic of Kenya.”
