NAIROBI, Kenya – Police have recovered the firearm used in the assassination of Kasipul Member of Parliament Charles Were, who was gunned down on April 30.
Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja confirmed on Thursday morning that the weapon, one of two recovered during a raid at a suspect’s residence, was positively identified through ballistic analysis.
This marks a major breakthrough in the ongoing investigation.
“This progress demonstrates the National Police Service’s commitment to resolving the case with the highest standards of professionalism and diligence,” said the IG.
“We will continue to pursue all leads, analyze forensic evidence, and ensure that all perpetrators are brought to justice.”

Some of the suspects are believed to be affiliated with Mjahidini, a notorious criminal gang linked to armed robberies in Nairobi’s Eastlands.
