Nairobi Police Station Degazetted, Public Urged to Collect Exhibits and Bail Refunds

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya-Authorities have officially degazetted Capitol Hill Police Station, triggering an urgent directive for investigators and members of the public to collect exhibits and pending cash bail refunds.

In a notice issued by former Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Tusca Opondo, all officers previously stationed at the facility have already been redeployed to other stations within the sub-county and the wider region.

The directive follows instructions for the immediate vacation of the premises, marking the end of operations at one of Nairobi’s known police stations.

Multi-agency investigators with pending cases have been asked to urgently retrieve all exhibits currently held at the station, including motor vehicles and other critical evidence tied to ongoing investigations.

At the same time, individuals with cash bail deposited at Capitol Hill Police Station have been advised to collect their refunds without delay. Authorities warned that any unclaimed funds will be surrendered to the National Treasury.

The development is expected to impact several ongoing cases that relied on the station as a holding point for exhibits, raising concerns about continuity and coordination among investigating agencies.

No official reason has yet been provided for the degazettement.

The police have called for swift action from all affected parties to ensure a smooth transition and avoid potential loss of property or funds.
