NAIROBI, Kenya — The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has charged a Falcon Oil Limited employee with allegedly stealing Sh14.89 million belonging to the petroleum company.
Ismail Ali Ibrahim appeared before Nairobi Principal Magistrate Paul Mutai, where he denied charges of stealing, conspiracy to defraud, acquisition of proceeds of crime and using proceeds of crime.
According to the prosecution, Ibrahim allegedly stole Sh14,890,157 between December 1, 2025, and July 31, 2026, after the money came into his possession by virtue of his employment at Falcon Oil Limited.
Employee accused of stealing company funds
The prosecution further alleges that Ibrahim conspired with other individuals to unlawfully obtain money belonging to Falcon Oil.
The alleged offences form part of investigations into the loss of funds at the petroleum company, which resulted in the DPP approving criminal proceedings against the accused.
Ibrahim faces additional charges under the proceeds of crime laws over transactions allegedly linked to the money said to have been obtained through the purported scheme.
Sh300,000 transaction cited in case
The court was told that on April 25, 2026, Ibrahim allegedly acquired Sh300,000 from clients of Falcon Oil Limited who were purchasing petroleum products.
The prosecution alleges that Ibrahim knew or had reason to believe that the money was proceeds of crime obtained through the alleged conspiracy.
The charge of acquisition of proceeds of crime is separate from the broader allegation that Ibrahim stole money belonging to Falcon Oil during the period covered by the charge sheet.
Ibrahim released on Sh3 million bond
Ibrahim pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
Magistrate Mutai released him on a Sh3 million surety bond or an alternative cash bail of Sh800,000, with two contact persons.
The court did not determine his guilt or innocence at the initial appearance.
The case will be mentioned on September 17, 2026, when further directions are expected.
Ibrahim remains presumed innocent unless the prosecution proves the allegations against him in court.
