Government Appeals for Help to Trace Two Missing Children From Komarock

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya — The State Department for Children Services has appealed to members of the public to help trace two minors who went missing from the Komarock area in Nairobi on May 13, 2026.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the department said the government immediately launched coordinated search and protection interventions through the State Department for Children Services and the National Police Service after the disappearance was reported.

Authorities said the case was formally registered in the Child Protection Information Management System (CPIMS) to support investigations and national tracing efforts.

The government also confirmed that the children’s details and photographs had been circulated through national child protection and “Missing and Found” networks to widen the search.

Additional efforts include coordination with local administration officers and Children Officers across various sub-counties as well as the circulation of the minors’ photographs to Charitable Children Institutions (CCIs).

“Investigations and search efforts remain ongoing,” the statement said.

The State Department urged Kenyans with any information that could help locate the children to report immediately to the nearest police station, Children’s Office or contact the National Child Helpline 116, which is toll-free.

“Your cooperation could help reunite the children safely with their family,” the department stated.

The latest case comes amid growing concern over rising incidents of missing children in Kenya.

Recent government data showed that more than 10,500 child protection cases, including missing children incidents, were reported between January 2025 and March 2026.

Nairobi County recorded the highest number of reported cases.

Child protection agencies have linked the rise in disappearances to domestic violence, trafficking, neglect, online exploitation and economic hardships affecting vulnerable families.

Authorities have continued urging parents and guardians to report missing children cases immediately to improve chances of successful rescue and reunification.
