King Charles Says ‘Law Must Take Its Course’ After Arrest of Former Prince Andrew

LONDON — King Charles III has stated the arrest of his brother, Andrew Mountbatten‑Windsor, on suspicion of misconduct in public office.

In his response, the King said he learned of the arrest with the “deepest concern” and stressed that the matter must be handled through a “full, fair and proper process” by the appropriate authorities.

He added that the royal family would give its “full and wholehearted support and co‑operation” to the investigation.

“I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten‑Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office,” the King said in a statement released by Buckingham Palace.

“What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities … Let me state clearly: the law must take its course.”

Charles also said it would be inappropriate to comment further while legal proceedings are underway and reaffirmed that he and his family will continue their duties and service.
