NAIROBI, Kenya- The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) has opened applications for students seeking admission into its diploma and certificate programmes, giving KCSE candidates another opportunity to pursue careers in healthcare days after the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) released university placement opportunities.
The application window targets eligible candidates seeking placement to KMTC programmes through the KUCCPS platform.
KUCCPS said qualified KCSE holders can apply for available KMTC diploma and certificate courses subject to meeting the required minimum qualifications. Applicants are required to submit their applications through the KUCCPS online portal.
The opening comes as thousands of Form Four leavers navigate their next education steps following the completion of the university and college placement process. KUCCPS recently opened applications for universities, colleges and TVET institutions, targeting the 2025 KCSE cohort and previous Form Four leavers.
For the KMTC intake, applicants can choose from a range of health training programmes offered across the institution’s campuses countrywide. The March 2026 intake had 21,774 vacancies spread across 36 diploma and certificate programmes in 98 KMTC campuses.
KMTC remains one of Kenya’s largest institutions for training middle-level healthcare workers, offering programmes in fields such as clinical medicine, nursing, medical laboratory sciences, pharmacy and other health-related disciplines.
The move provides an alternative pathway for students who may not have secured university placement or those interested in specialised medical training.
KUCCPS coordinates placement of students to universities, colleges and other tertiary institutions under the Universities Act, 2012, with the mandate of ensuring students access courses based on their qualifications and preferences.
Students seeking KMTC admission have been advised to check available programmes, entry requirements and application guidelines through the official KUCCPS application portal.
The opening of KMTC applications comes amid growing demand for healthcare training opportunities as the country expands its health workforce to support public and private healthcare services.
