Leaders Condemn Attack on MP Salasya at Nyayo Stadium

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya- Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya was attacked by goons allied to a political party, Eugene Wamalwa-led DAP-Kenya has claimed.

Salasya was seen being beaten by goons inside and outside Nyayo Stadium- where a football match between Kenya and Gabon was ongoing.

President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila had joined thousands of football fans to watch the match.

The goons were heard telling the vocal MP, known for speaking his mind and criticizing both Odinga and the President, to respect them.

“Heshimu Raila, Heshimu Rais…” they were heard.

Salasya sustained injuries and is reportedly receiving treatment at a city hospital.

“The attack on our legislator Peter Salasya by organized goons at Nyayo stadium is very unfortunate, backwardness and ill-intentioned by known party goons,” DAP Kenya said in a post on X.

“This will not stop the Must Go stance or salvage the king of handshakes from the wrath of Kenyans.”

ODM legislator Caleb Amisi termed the attack as uncouth, saying the culprits must be brought to book.

“We may not agree on how he does his things, but this is a young man trying his luck in life,” the MP said.

Robert Alai, a vocal ODM MCA, cautioned Salasya against ‘attacking’ his party boss after the attack at Nyayo stadium.

Police are yet to arrest or issue a statement following the incident.
