NGAAF CEO Roy Sasaka Telewa Questioned by EACC Over Sh1 Billion Unexplained Wealth

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) Chief Executive Officer Roy Sasaka Telewa has appeared before the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) amid allegations of possessing unexplained wealth worth approximately Sh1 billion.

The summons follows a search operation at his residence and office on January 8, 2026, as part of a wide-ranging investigation into suspected corruption, procurement irregularities, and illegal accumulation of wealth between January 2021 and January 2026.

EACC confirmed that the operation recovered documents, electronic devices, and financial records believed to be critical to tracing the source of the funds and determining whether public resources were misappropriated.

“The statement will assist in determining the next course of action, including possible prosecution,” the commission said, noting that findings could lead to the forfeiture of assets acquired unlawfully.

The probe not only focuses on irregularities at NGAAF—a fund supporting women, youth, and persons with disabilities—but also examines Telewa’s previous tenure as Head of Procurement at the Kenya Deposit Insurance Corporation (KDIC) and Deputy Head of Procurement at the Competition Authority of Kenya.

Analysts say the investigation raises questions about the management of public resources intended to support vulnerable groups.

“These funds exist to support social equity,” a Nairobi-based governance expert said. “When corruption infiltrates them, it erodes trust and harms the people who need them most.”

If found culpable, Telewa could face arrest, prosecution, and asset confiscation under the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act and the Proceeds of Crime and Anti-Money Laundering Act.

EACC will forward its findings to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions upon completion of the investigation.

This latest probe is part of a broader anti-corruption drive targeting high-level officials suspected of abusing public office for personal gain.
