NAIROBI, Kenya-Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to equitable development across the country, saying investments in infrastructure, education, healthcare and public administration are transforming lives regardless of region or political affiliation.

Speaking during a church service at Suneka District SDA Church in Bonchari Constituency, Kisii County, Omollo said the Kenya Kwanza administration remains focused on ensuring every part of the country benefits from national development programmes.

He cited ongoing investments in roads, affordable housing, healthcare, schools and administrative units as evidence of the government’s commitment to inclusive growth.

“The Government remains focused on inclusive and equitable development aimed at improving the welfare of all Kenyans regardless of their region, ethnicity or political affiliation,” he said.

Omollo said more than 100,000 teachers have been recruited over the past three years, while over 23,000 classrooms have been constructed to improve access to quality education across the country.

He urged parents to complement government efforts by ensuring children remain in school and participate in faith-based programmes that promote discipline and responsible citizenship.

The Principal Secretary also announced that the long-awaited upgrade of Suneka Airstrip is set to begin, saying procurement processes have been completed and a contractor is expected to move to the site soon.

According to Omollo, the project will improve connectivity, boost trade and investment, and reduce the need for residents of Kisii and neighbouring counties to travel long distances to access air transport services.

He further revealed that the government is accelerating the operationalisation of several gazetted administrative units in Bonchari Constituency and other parts of Kisii County to bring essential government services closer to residents.

The new administrative units are expected to improve access to services including the issuance of national identity cards, birth certificates and other government documents.

On healthcare, Omollo urged residents to register with the Social Health Authority (SHA), saying increased enrolment would enable more families to benefit from affordable healthcare. He noted that Kisii County had made significant progress in SHA registration but called for universal coverage.

The Interior PS also appealed to Kenyans to reject violence, political intolerance and destruction of property, saying sustainable development can only be achieved in a peaceful environment.

He commended leaders from across the region for supporting the church fundraiser, saying unity among leaders accelerates development, and praised faith-based institutions for promoting peace, moral values and social cohesion.

“The transformation of our country requires partnership between government, the Church, community leaders and citizens. When we work together, we can build stronger communities, create more opportunities for our people and secure a brighter future for generations to come,” Omollo said.

The church service was attended by religious leaders, elected leaders, government officials and members of the public in support of ongoing development initiatives at Suneka District SDA Church.
