UDA’s Malava By-Election Aspirant Dr Enock Andanje Dies After Collapsing at Event

Date:

MALAVA, Kenya – United Democratic Alliance (UDA) aspirant for the Malava parliamentary by-election, Dr Enock Andanje, has died after collapsing during a widows’ empowerment forum in Kakamega County on Friday.

The event, held in Malava and attended by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, turned tragic when Dr Andanje suddenly slumped to the ground.

Attempts to resuscitate him on site failed, and he was rushed to hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

Mudavadi confirmed the news, expressing shock and sending condolences to Dr Andanje’s family and the people of Malava.

Authorities have yet to confirm the cause of death, with a post-mortem examination expected in the coming days.

Dr Andanje was the immediate former Principal of Bungoma High School and had taken early retirement earlier this year to join politics.

He was among 30 aspirants eyeing the Malava seat in the November 27, 2025, by-election, which was triggered by the death of MP Malulu Injendi in June.

His entry into politics had been welcomed by many constituents, with supporters describing him as a committed leader and educator.
