Kenyan youth with fabrication skills have a new gateway to international employment, thanks to the National Youth Service (NYS).

The institution has announced 50 job opportunities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for its graduates, marking another milestone in its efforts to connect skilled workers with global opportunities.

The selection process kicks off on April 4, 2025, with a practical interview at the National Youth Service Engineering Institute.

A Dubai-based employer will conduct the interviews, scouting for top talent to join their team. This follows a previous successful recruitment round where NYS graduates secured similar roles abroad.

Who Can Apply? Here’s What You Need to Qualify

Not everyone can grab this opportunity. To be eligible, candidates must be NYS graduates and hold either a diploma or trade certificate in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or a related field.

Additionally, they need at least 3-5 years of hands-on fabrication experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably working with metal or machining.

Fluency in English—both spoken and written—is essential, as candidates will need to interpret blueprints, communicate with the team, and document processes.

Precision and technical expertise are key, with responsibilities including:

  • Designing and implementing fabrication processes
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications
  • Measuring, cutting, and shaping steel bars
  • Installing steel structures according to safety standards

The job comes with a two-year renewable contract and a monthly salary of approximately Sh51,087.

Perks & Application Process—What You Get

Beyond the paycheck, successful candidates will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package that includes an employment visa and resident permit, accommodation and transport, medical and life insurance, protective gear and work uniforms, and a round-trip air ticket every two years.

The first flight from Kenya to the UAE will be covered by an employment agent, while future flights will be provided by the company.

Interested? Applications are open now. Simply fill out the application form here.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for practical tests at the NYS Engineering Institute on Thursday, April 4, 2025.

This opportunity is part of Kenya’s growing efforts to export skilled labor and create employment for its youth.

If you meet the requirements, this could be your ticket to a high-paying job in the Middle East.
