Kenya’s national women’s football team, Harambee Starlets, have been gifted a combined Sh 1.5 million reward following their impressive 2–0 victory over India, a result that sealed their place in the Women’s FIFA Series final against Australia.
The financial reward, drawn from the Sports Ministry and Football Kenya Federation (FKF), comes as recognition of the team’s strong performance in the tournament hosted in Nairobi.
The Starlets received the bonus after delivering a disciplined and confident display against India, with goals from Martha Amunyolete and Terry Engesha securing a comfortable 2–0 win.
The reward package includes Sh 1 million from the Sports Cabinet Secretary andSh 500,000 from FKF
The gesture was made to motivate and appreciate the team following their qualification for the final stage of the competition.
Kenya controlled much of the match at Nyayo Stadium, showing improved structure both defensively and in attack.
