NAIROBI, Kenya — The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has announced that candidates who sat the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination can now access digital copies of their certificates through the council’s online e-certificate platform.
In a notice issued on Wednesday, KNEC said the latest batch of candidates has been added to the platform, allowing them to instantly obtain secure electronic copies of their KCSE certificates.
“2025 KCSE certificates are now available on the KNEC e-certificate platform. 2025 KCSE candidates can now instantly access a secure digital copy of their certificates, joining their counterparts from 1989–2024 already on the platform,” the council said.
According to KNEC, the e-certificates can be used for a wide range of official purposes, including university admissions, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and college applications, international admissions, scholarship and bursary applications, as well as employment and internship recruitment.
The examination body said the digital certificates are issued directly by KNEC and are legally recognised. It added that institutions and employers can verify the certificates instantly through the platform.
KNEC further noted that the certificates are secured using Avalanche blockchain technology, enhancing their authenticity and protection against forgery.
The council also emphasised that the digital certificates do not expire, making them suitable for long-term academic and professional use.
How to Download the 2025 KCSE e-Certificate
Candidates seeking to obtain their digital certificates are required to:
- Visit the KNEC e-certificate portal.
- Click the Sign Up button to create an account.
- Verify the account using the One-Time Password (OTP) sent to the registered email address.
- Log in and verify their profile using their National Identity Card details.
- Select Download e-Certificate.
- Enter their KCSE index number, exam year (2025) and exam type (KCSE).
- Confirm the displayed details, including their name, school and median grade.
- Pay the Sh1,500 processing fee through the eCitizen platform.
Upon successful payment, the e-certificate will be emailed to the candidate and saved on their personal dashboard for future access.
KNEC said the introduction of digital certificates is intended to make academic credentials more accessible while providing a secure and verifiable system for institutions, employers and other stakeholders.
