NAIROBI, Kenya – The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has announced the recruitment of teachers and college tutors to serve as assessors for the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) oral and practical examinations.
The application window opens today, June 10, and will run until July 30, 2025.
In a notice issued Tuesday, KNEC invited qualified secondary school teachers and technical tutors to apply for the roles, which are critical for subjects that require hands-on assessment or oral evaluation.
Successful applicants will undergo training ahead of the 2025 national examinations.
Subjects Requiring Assessors
The council is seeking assessors for the following KCSE papers:
- Paper Mechanics (447/2)
- Electricity (448/2)
- Aviation Technology (450/2)
- French Oral (501/3)
- German Oral (502/3)
- Arabic Oral (503/3)
- Kenyan Sign Language Signing Practical (504/3)
- Music Practical (511/1)
Applicants must be practising teachers or tutors in the relevant subjects and must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) or another recognized professional body.
Those already in KNEC’s database of assessors are not required to reapply.
For Aviation Technology, candidates must hold a diploma in Aeronautical Engineering and have at least three years of teaching experience.
Additional Requirements
Applicants must also:
- Be 50 years of age or younger
- Not be under interdiction or facing disciplinary action
- Be recommended by their head of institution or employer
How to Apply
Applications must be submitted through the KNEC Examiners Portal. Teachers with existing CP2 accounts should log in using their credentials.
Those who have forgotten their passwords can reset them using their registered mobile numbers.
New applicants are required to create an account on the portal, complete their personal profiles, and select the assessor vacancies they wish to apply for from the dashboard.
KNEC warned that only qualified applicants with complete documentation will be shortlisted. Given the limited number of slots, candidates are urged to submit their applications promptly.
The recruitment and training of assessors are part of KNEC’s broader strategy to ensure accuracy and fairness in the evaluation of candidates in practical and oral subjects.
