NAIROBI, Kenya — Nyandarua Senator Methu Muhia has congratulated Sammy Douglas Kamau Waweru (Sammy Kamau Ngotho) following his landslide victory in the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election, describing him as a committed leader ready to serve the people.
In a statement shared after the declaration of results, Methu praised Ngotho’s dedication throughout the campaign, saying his commitment made the campaign one of the smoothest he had ever participated in.
“My brother, my friend, Sammy Douglas Kamau Waweru – Ngotho, congratulations on your very resounding win. The people have spoken, unequivocally so. Go out and serve,” Methu said.
The senator added that Ngotho had demonstrated exceptional commitment during the campaign period.
“You have been the easiest person that I have worked with. Our campaigns were the smoothest because you were so committed. I have no doubt in my mind the people of Ol Kalou have gotten the best.”
Credits Rigathi Gachagua’s Leadership
Methu also thanked Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua for what he described as his guidance throughout the by-election campaign.
“On behalf of the entire team, we are so grateful to our party leader H.E. Rigathi Gachagua for his guidance throughout the entire by-election. We are proud to follow a brilliant leader, who has an answer to every political question.”
Message to Ol Kalou Voters
The Nyandarua senator also expressed gratitude to voters in Ol Kalou, saying they had fulfilled their promise through the ballot.
Referring to a popular Kikuyu campaign slogan, Methu wrote:
“To the great people of Ol Kalou, my people, my blood, I am overwhelmed by your love. You promised that mùtikwendia rùrìrì and indeed, almost to a man voted to restore the dignity of our community.”
He concluded by urging the newly elected legislator to focus on serving the people of Ol Kalou.
A Major Political Win for DCP
Sammy Kamau Ngotho of the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) defeated United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate Samuel Muchina Nyagah in a closely watched contest that was widely viewed as a key indicator of political influence in the Mt. Kenya region ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The victory has been celebrated by DCP leaders as a significant boost for the party’s growing presence in Nyandarua County and the wider Mt. Kenya region.
