Business executive and mental health advocate Nana Gecaga has marked a major personal milestone, celebrating 27 years of sobriety while encouraging others battling addiction to keep choosing recovery “one day at a time.”

In a heartfelt Instagram post shared on July 4, Gecaga reflected on the journey that has brought her to nearly three decades free from alcohol and substance dependence, acknowledging that recovery has required daily commitment rather than a single life-changing moment.

“Today July 4th 2026 marks 27 years of sobriety,” she wrote. “It wasn’t always one day at a time. Some days it was one hour. Some days it was one minute. But every step mattered.”

Gecaga emphasized that recovery is an ongoing process rather than a destination, noting that the work continues long after the initial decision to quit.

“Recovery isn’t a finish line, it’s a choice I continue to make every single day, and I never take it for granted,” she wrote.

The milestone adds to Gecaga’s long-standing advocacy for mental health awareness and addiction recovery. Over the years, she has spoken candidly about overcoming alcohol addiction, using her platform to reduce the stigma surrounding substance use disorders and encourage more people to seek professional help.

In her latest message, Gecaga turned her attention to those who may still be struggling with addiction, encouraging them not to lose hope even when recovery feels overwhelming.

“If you’re struggling today, please don’t give up. You don’t have to have all the answers. Just get through this moment… then the next,” she wrote.

She also stressed the importance of asking for help, describing it as an act of courage rather than weakness.

According to Gecaga, many people delay seeking support because they fear judgment or believe they must face addiction alone.

The business executive also took time to thank the people who have supported her throughout her recovery journey.

She expressed gratitude to her family and friends, saying their belief in her and unwavering support had played a significant role in helping her remain sober for nearly three decades.

Her message concluded with a celebration not only of her own milestone but also of everyone who continues to choose recovery every day, regardless of where they are in their journey.
