Reality television star Shamea Morton went all out to celebrate her husband Gerald Mwangi’s birthday, organizing a lavish Kenyan-themed surprise party that transformed an Atlanta venue into a vibrant showcase of East African culture.

The celebration, which aired on an episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta (RHOA), paid tribute to Gerald’s Kenyan roots through traditional food, music, fashion, décor, and cultural experiences.

The event quickly became one of the most talked-about moments from the season, with fans praising Morton for honoring her husband’s heritage in such a grand and thoughtful way.

Gerald Mwangi was born and raised in Kenya before eventually relocating to the United States. Wanting him to experience a taste of home on his special day, Morton worked closely with event planners to create an immersive Kenyan cultural celebration.

Deep red, black, green, and white fabrics draped across the event space, reflecting the colors of the Kenyan flag. Wooden carvings and woven baskets added a distinctly East African feel.

The result was a sophisticated event that celebrated Kenyan identity while maintaining the glamour expected from a Real Housewives gathering.

Morton and Mwangi embraced the theme from head to toe.

The couple arrived wearing matching traditional African-inspired outfits. Many attendees also embraced the dress code, arriving in colorful African prints and culturally inspired outfits that complemented the overall theme.

The fashion added another layer of authenticity to the celebration and helped create a unified cultural experience for everyone in attendance.

The birthday party featured a carefully curated spread of traditional Kenyan dishes, street foods, and family-inspired recipes designed to introduce guests to the flavors of East Africa.

Among the appetizers were beef samosas, viazi karai, Mandazi, alongside fresh fruit platters.

For the main course, caterers prepared a lavish buffet featuring some of Kenya’s most beloved dishes. The star attraction was nyama choma and kachumbari. Guests also enjoyed chapati and Kenyan pilau rice, among other kenyan delicacies.

The dessert station became another focal point of the celebration.

At its center stood a towering custom-designed birthday cake decorated with edible fondant patterns inspired the Kenyan flag. The cake table also featured an assortment of mini pastries, themed cupcakes and cakesicles, offering guests a variety of sweet treats throughout the evening.

A live band performed throughout the evening, while a professional DJ kept the energy high with an upbeat playlist that encouraged guests to dance late into the night.

As expected from a Real Housewives event, the guest list featured an impressive lineup of reality television stars and entertainment personalities.

Several current and former RHOA cast members attended the party, including Porsha Williams, Kenya Moore, Kandi Burruss, Drew Sidora, Cynthia Bailey, Shereé Whitfield, Marlo Hampton, Sanya Richards-Ross, and Shamari DeVoe.

The event also attracted stars from other Bravo franchises. Guests included Phaedra Parks, Karen Huger, Ashley Darby, Mia Thornton, Toya Bush-Harris, Dr. Jackie Walters, and Quad Webb.

Singer K. Michelle and renowned television producer Carlos King were also among those who joined the celebration.

Morton and Mwangi’s relationship dates back to 2014 when they met in Atlanta. The couple later married on July 22, 2017, during a beautiful wedding ceremony at the Mount Kenya Safari Club in Nyeri, Kenya.
