HOMA BAY, Kenya – The government has assured Kenyans of adequate security ahead of next month’s by-elections in various constituencies and wards across the country.
Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo said elaborate security measures have been put in place to ensure the polls scheduled for November 27, 2025, are conducted peacefully and free from intimidation or violence.
Speaking at Kabunde Social Hall in Homa Bay County during an NYOTA Programme sensitisation forum, Omollo said the Ministry of Interior is working closely with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to guarantee a credible process.
“We are fully prepared to maintain peace and order in all areas where by-elections will take place,” said Omollo. “Our officers have clear instructions to act firmly against any form of political intolerance or incitement.”
The IEBC is set to conduct by-elections in several constituencies and wards, including the Kasipul and Ugunja parliamentary seats.
Omollo urged candidates and their supporters to conduct peaceful campaigns and avoid inflammatory rhetoric, adding that the government will not tolerate any attempts to disrupt the democratic process.
“I call upon all aspirants to observe restraint and encourage their followers to remain calm. Let the people exercise their democratic rights without fear,” he said.
The PS also appealed to voters to uphold peace before, during, and after the polls, saying security agencies will remain on high alert throughout the election period.
