
GENEVA, Switzerland- Information, Communications and the Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo has held talks with Kenya’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Geneva, Dr. Fancy Too, as Kenya steps up its engagement on global digital governance and artificial intelligence.
Kabogo said the courtesy call reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to strengthening multilateral cooperation in digital transformation, innovation and the responsible development of artificial intelligence (AI).
The meeting took place as the Kenyan delegation participates in the inaugural Global Dialogue on Artificial Intelligence and the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) 2026 in Geneva.
“I had the pleasure of paying a courtesy call on H.E. Dr. Fancy Too, Kenya’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Geneva, Switzerland,” Kabogo said.
Advancing Kenya’s digital agenda
According to the Cabinet Secretary, the discussions focused on leveraging international partnerships to advance Kenya’s Digital Superhighway agenda, one of the government’s flagship digital transformation initiatives.
The strategy seeks to expand digital infrastructure, increase internet connectivity, strengthen digital public services, and promote innovation to support economic growth and job creation.
Kabogo said Kenya remains committed to working with international partners to ensure technology is deployed responsibly while expanding opportunities for citizens and businesses.
“We remain committed to leveraging technology, partnerships and global collaboration to accelerate Kenya’s Digital Superhighway agenda and create opportunities for all,” he said.
Global AI engagement
Kenya’s participation in the inaugural Global Dialogue on Artificial Intelligence and WSIS 2026 reflects the country’s growing interest in shaping international conversations on AI governance, digital inclusion and emerging technologies.
The forums bring together governments, international organisations, the private sector, academia and technology experts to discuss policy frameworks that promote innovation while addressing challenges such as digital security, ethical AI development and equitable access to technology.
The engagements also provide Kenya with an opportunity to strengthen international partnerships and showcase its efforts to position itself as a regional leader in digital transformation and innovation.
