NAIROBI, Kenya- Garissa gubernatorial aspirant Amb. Mohamed Shidiye has reported alleged death threats and claims he has been under surveillance.

Shidiye has lodged a complaint with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) offices.

He said unidentified individuals driving an unmarked vehicle without registration plates have followed him on several occasions in recent weeks.

He also claimed that his mobile phone had been tapped and hacked multiple times.

According to Shidiye, the same unmarked vehicle tailed him again on Friday. He said he stopped and confronted its occupants to ask why they were following him, but they did not respond.

Shidiye further alleged that he photographed the vehicle and later shared the image with individuals who told him it belonged to a state security agency. Y News has not independently verified that claim.

On Saturday, accompanied by his wife and children, Shidiye reported the matter at the DCI headquarters on Kiambu Road, seeking investigations into the threats.

He said there was a “coordinated plot to assassinate” him before the 2027 General Election and alleged that a powerful politician was behind the threats.

He has called on authorities to investigate the matter.
