NAIROBI, Kenya – Bank AL Habib (BAHL) has announced that it will close its Representative Office in Kenya on Thursday, May 15, 2025, following approval from the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK).
The decision is part of a strategic review and global restructuring aimed at improving operational efficiency and consolidating its international operations.
In a notice issued by the bank, BAHL confirmed that it would cease all operations in Kenya effective from the mentioned date, in line with the Banking Act (Cap. 488, Laws of Kenya) and CBK’s Prudential Guidelines.
The closure follows a careful assessment by the bank’s Board of Directors.
The bank, headquartered in Pakistan, had been operating in Kenya since 2018 under the authority granted by CBK to establish a Representative Office.
However, BAHL clarified that, as a representative office, it has only served as a marketing and liaison entity and has not been involved in direct banking business.
For inquiries related to the closure, BAHL has provided contact details for Oraro & Company Advocates, who are handling communications regarding the transition.
The bank thanked its customers and the Kenyan public for their support during its years of operation in the country.
