NAIROBI, Kenya- The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) Board has appointed Moses Wekesa as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer following a competitive recruitment process aimed at strengthening leadership at the authority.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Board said Wekesa emerged as the preferred candidate after a rigorous selection exercise designed to identify a leader capable of driving the agency’s long-term aviation transformation agenda.
He will now take charge of KAA’s strategic direction, with a key focus on the modernization and expansion of key aviation infrastructure across the country.
A major priority of his leadership will be the continued upgrade and expansion of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Kenya’s busiest aviation hub and a critical gateway for regional and international travel.
The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) said the appointment comes at a crucial time as it accelerates infrastructure development projects aimed at improving efficiency, capacity, and passenger experience across its airports network.
Wekesa previously served as Business Development Director at Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen), where he played a key role in expanding the utility’s core business operations.
His academic background includes engineering and project planning qualifications, which the Board said will support the ongoing modernization of Kenya’s aviation sector.
The authority expressed confidence that his leadership will help position Kenya as a leading aviation hub in Africa through expanded airport capacity and improved service delivery.
