Rubrik, Sophos Partner to Boost Microsoft 365 Cyber Resilience for Mid-Market Customers

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya-Rubrik and Sophos have announced a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening cyber resilience for Microsoft 365 users, particularly mid-market organizations using Sophos’ Managed Detection and Response (MDR) and Extended Detection and Response (XDR) services.

The new solution, Sophos M365 Backup and Recovery Powered by Rubrik will be the first MDR-optimized Microsoft 365 backup and recovery tool fully integrated into Sophos Central, the company’s unified security operations platform.

The offering is designed to help IT and cybersecurity teams prevent data loss and recover quickly from threats like ransomware, insider attacks, and account compromise across SharePoint, Exchange, OneDrive, and Teams.

“We are reshaping what it means to stay operational in a world shaped by constant digital disruption,” said Joe Levy, CEO of Sophos.

“This is the future of cyber resilience: an intelligent, adaptive partnership that ensures organizations remain secure, responsive, and uninterrupted. By combining Sophos’ prevention-first approach with Rubrik’s unwavering recovery capabilities, we empower businesses to withstand attacks and maintain continuity, even under pressure.”

The new add-on will be available to Sophos’ 75,000+ MDR and XDR customers, offering secure and rapid data recovery in the event of data compromise.

Integrated directly into Sophos Central, the solution leverages Rubrik’s SaaS-based protection and supports over 350 telemetry sources spanning endpoints, cloud, email, and identity systems. It uses deep learning and large language models to detect and respond to threats across the digital landscape.

Bipul Sinha, CEO and Co-founder of Rubrik, noted, “With AI-enabled attacks and sophisticated breaches on the rise, organizations need more than just prevention; they need the ability to recover rapidly and reliably. Our partnership with Sophos delivers this critical capability directly within a platform security teams already use and trust.”

The announcement comes amid growing concerns about Microsoft 365 vulnerabilities.

According to Sophos’ latest ransomware report, nearly half of impacted organizations paid ransoms, yet only 54% used backups for data recovery.

Additionally, 60% of Microsoft 365 tenants reported account takeovers, and 81% experienced email compromise issues that make recovery tools increasingly essential.

The integrated solution is expected to be available through Sophos’ channel partner network in the coming months.
