Comedian and digital content creator Nasra Yusuf has announced her intention to contest the Garissa County Woman Representative seat in the 2027 General Election, joining a growing list of entertainers seeking elective office.
Yusuf made the announcement on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, through a campaign poster shared on her social media platforms. She outlined five priority areas she hopes to address if voters elect her: women’s empowerment, education and skills development, healthcare access, job creation, and unity in Garissa.
In her campaign message, the former Churchill Show comedian said she wanted leadership that listens to residents and creates opportunities for women and girls.
“Garissa deserves leadership that listens, representation that delivers, and opportunities that reach every woman and girl,” she wrote.
Yusuf’s campaign poster identifies five areas she intends to prioritise in her bid for the county seat.
The first is the empowerment of women and girls. She also highlighted education and skills development, with a focus on creating opportunities for young people.
Healthcare access forms another part of her proposed agenda. She also listed job creation and economic opportunities among her priorities, alongside efforts to build a stronger and more united Garissa.
Yusuf said she wanted a future in which women could access opportunities, young people could pursue education and meaningful work, and families could obtain better healthcare.
“I believe in a future where women are empowered, young people have access to education and meaningful opportunities, families can access better healthcare, and every community feels heard,” she wrote.
Yusuf said she intended to engage residents and understand the issues affecting communities across the county as she prepared for the 2027 race.
“As I look towards the 2027 Women Representative race in Garissa County, I am committed to listening, learning, and championing the issues that matter to our people,” she said.
Yusuf’s announcement comes as Kenyan entertainers and digital creators increasingly express interest in elective politics ahead of the next General Election.
