MWINGI, Kenya — Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has issued a public appeal for Kalonzo Musyoka to join the government, urging the Wiper Party leader to bring his four decades of public service experience into the Kenya Kwanza administration rather than remaining in opposition.
Speaking in Mwingi North during relief food distribution across Mwingi North, Kitui West, and Masinga constituencies, Ruku said the Kalonzo joint government call would open greater opportunities for Ukambani residents.
He argued that remaining in opposition has done little to improve livelihoods in the region.
“Joining government will open up greater opportunities for the people of Ukambani,” said Ruku.
“Remaining in the opposition has done little to improve their livelihoods, and Kalonzo understands this better than anyone.” The Kalonzo join government appeal comes amid shifting political alignments ahead of the 2027 election.
Kalonzo Join Government 2032 Vision
Ruku urged Kalonzo to engage Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and explore forming a formidable government in 2032. The Kalonzo-led government call includes a long-term political vision beyond the current electoral cycle.
Ruku accused impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Democratic Citizens Party leaders of deceiving Kalonzo for personal gain. He noted that Kalonzo, having worked in government for over 40 years, knows meaningful development requires collaboration with the administration of the day.
Kalonzo Join Government Tribal Politics Context
Ruku emphasized that the era of tribal politics is over and Kenyans should elect leaders based on performance rather than ethnicity. The Kalonzo joint government appeal was framed as a rejection of ethnic-based mobilisation.
“The time for tribal politics is over,” Ruku stated. “We must choose leaders who deliver to the people, and that is why Kenyans should reflect President Ruto in 2027.”
He urged Kitui and Machakos residents to rally behind Ruto’s government, citing infrastructure projects and citizen-centered initiatives. Leaders accompanying the CS pledged to support the government and promote unity.
