Nairobi: DIG Lagat Commissions New Strategic Communication Office at Vigilance House

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya — Deputy Inspector General of Police Eliud Lagat has commissioned a newly constructed and fully equipped Strategic Communication Office at the Kenya Police Headquarters, Vigilance House, in a move aimed at strengthening the Service’s communication and public engagement capabilities.

The new facility is expected to help police units modernise their communication systems and respond more effectively to the demands of an increasingly digital information environment.

The commissioning ceremony brought together senior police officers and other officials as the National Police Service continues to strengthen the way it communicates official information and engages with the public.

The event also featured the launch of a new Kenya Police Service magazine profiling officers deployed to the Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti.

The magazine provides a platform to highlight the work and experiences of Kenyan officers serving in the international security mission while documenting the Service’s contribution to the operation.

Police also unveiled a redesigned Kenya Police Service website, intended to provide members of the public with easier access to timely and accurate official information.

The new communication platforms are expected to improve the coordination and delivery of information from the Service while strengthening public engagement and making official updates more accessible.

The Kenya Police Service said the three initiatives — the Strategic Communication Office, the magazine and the redesigned website — will enable it to communicate more effectively with the public and tell the Service’s story directly.

The developments come as police institutions increasingly rely on digital platforms to disseminate information, counter misinformation and maintain public communication during security operations and other major national events.
