Gachagua Fires at Ruto: “Hundreds of Broken Promises to Maa Community”

Date:

KAJIADO, Kenya- DCP Party leader Rigathi Gachagua has intensified his criticism of President William Ruto, accusing him of failing to deliver key development promises to the Maa community.

Speaking in Kajiado East during a homecoming thanksgiving ceremony for DCP Party Chairman David Persaina, Gachagua launched a scathing attack on the head of state, at one point describing him as a “pathological liar” over what he termed as unfulfilled pledges.

At the centre of his criticism is the long-standing promise to hand over Amboseli National Park to the county government. Gachagua claimed the commitment remains unmet, despite repeated assurances to the Maa community.

He further alleged that the president has made “hundreds of promises” to the region, many of which, he said, have yet to be implemented.

Gachagua also pushed back against recent remarks by Ruto, who accused him of promoting tribal politics by addressing crowds in his mother tongue. In a sharp rejoinder, the former deputy president accused the president of hypocrisy, claiming he had recently addressed his own community in his native language.

On the ongoing fuel controversy, Gachagua criticised the government’s handling of the crisis, particularly the arrest of senior officials from the energy sector.

He argued that the move to detain the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) CEO and the Petroleum Principal Secretary over allegations linked to substandard fuel was misleading.

According to him, the government is now contradicting itself by allowing the importation or distribution of low-quality fuel, raising questions about the motive behind the arrests.

The DCP leader urged Kenyans to hold the president accountable for what he termed as governance failures, calling on citizens to “take responsibility” in addressing the country’s political direction.

Gachagua is currently on a three-day political tour of Kajiado County, with planned visits to Oloitoktok and Ilasit as he continues to rally support and engage local communities.
