NAIROBI, Kenya- The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced a temporary disruption of some of its online voter services as it undertakes a routine upgrade of its information and communication technology (ICT) systems.
In a public notice issued on Monday, the commission said the exercise is aimed at enhancing the reliability, security and performance of its digital services.
As a result, the online voter verification portal, voter transfer services and change of voter particulars have been temporarily affected.
The affected services include the online voter search platform accessible through verify.iebc.or.ke, which allows registered voters to confirm their registration details.
Despite the temporary interruption, the commission said voter registration services will continue as normal at all 290 constituency offices, Huduma Centres and the Customer Experience Centre at Anniversary Towers in Nairobi.
“The Commission wishes to inform stakeholders and members of the public that we are currently undertaking a routine upgrade of our ICT systems to enhance reliability, security and performance of our services,” the notice read.
The electoral agency said it will notify the public once the system upgrade is complete and the affected services have been restored.
The announcement comes as the commission continues with voter registration and preparations for upcoming electoral activities, including by-elections in various parts of the country.
IEBC urged members of the public and stakeholders to be patient during the maintenance period and apologised for any inconvenience caused.
