NAIROBI, Kenya – Governor Kenneth Lusaka has dissolved the entire Bungoma County Executive in a sweeping reorganization aimed at improving governance and service delivery.
In a press statement issued on April 9, the Office of the Governor announced that all Members of the County Executive Committee (CECs), the County Attorney, and the County Secretary have been relieved of their duties with immediate effect.
The move, according to Governor Lusaka, is part of a broader restructuring intended to enhance efficiency within the county government and strengthen institutional integrity.
“Accordingly, subject to Section 40(1)(a) of the County Government Act, all Members of the County Executive Committee, the County Attorney, and the County Secretary have been relieved of their duties with immediate effect,” part of the statement read.
The governor’s office noted that the decision was made in good faith and in the broader public interest, emphasizing the need to ensure effective governance and improved service delivery to residents of Bungoma County.
Despite the shake-up, the county government assured the public that measures have been put in place to guarantee continuity of services and prevent disruptions in the delivery of essential services.
“The County Government remains committed to continuity of services, and appropriate administrative measures have been put in place to ensure that there is no disruption in the delivery of essential services to the great people of our county,” Lusaka noted.
Governor Lusaka also indicated that further communication regarding interim leadership arrangements and subsequent appointments will be made in due course and in accordance with the law.
The county boss thanked the affected officials for their service, reiterating the county government’s commitment to constitutionalism, the rule of law, and respect for due process.
The reorganization marks one of the most significant administrative changes in the Bungoma County government in recent months, with residents now awaiting announcements on new appointments to the executive positions.
