NAIROBI, Kenya- Sections of roads in Nyadhiwa, Homa Bay County, have been barricaded and bonfires lit as political tensions rise ahead of the Linda Mwananchi rally scheduled for Sunday.
The rally is set to take place in Homa Bay on August 16, 2026, as part of the movement’s nationwide mobilisation ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The disruptions in Nyadhiwa come amid heightened security concerns surrounding the event, with the Linda Mwananchi movement previously raising alarm over what it described as plans to disrupt its Homa Bay rally.
Siaya Governor James Orengo had earlier accused Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma and area Governor Gladys Wanga of being behind the incidents of violence.
Opposition rallies have continued to come under attack in various parts of the country.
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s entourage was attacked twice during his two-day tour of Nakuru County.
Police have not issued a statement or arrested anyone.
