NAIROBI, Kenya- Paul Ng’eno, the elder brother of the late Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno, has died after a prolonged illness, hours after former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua visited the family home in Mogondo, Narok County.
He died on Friday, August 21, 2026, while receiving treatment in Eldoret. His death was confirmed by the family, according to reports.
Paul had reportedly been undergoing treatment after sustaining serious injuries in a motorcycle accident. He had undergone surgery for injuries affecting his spinal cord and throat and was said to have been in stable condition before his health suddenly deteriorated.
His death came shortly after Gachagua visited the Ng’eno family in Mogondo, where he met Paul’s mother, Mary Temas.
During the visit, Gachagua pledged to settle Paul’s hospital bill, reported to have reached Sh1.8 million. He also promised to support the construction of a mausoleum in honour of the late Johana Ng’eno.
In a condolence message, Gachagua expressed sympathy to Mama Mary and the wider family, saying the loss was particularly painful because she had now lost two sons within a short period.
“To Mama Mary Temas, mother to the late Emurua Dikirr MP, Hon. Johanna Ng’eno, pole sana on the loss of your son, Mr. Paul Ng’eno, who had been hospitalized for a while,” Gachagua said.
“No words of consolation are strong enough for you at this moment, but only God’s grace is sufficient. I pray for you, Mama Mary.”
Gachagua said the family could understandably question why such tragedies had befallen them but urged them to accept the loss as part of God’s will.
“I know that, for a moment, you may question God why this has happened to you and to your sons. Many of us will ask, but the will of God is absolute,” he said.
He extended his condolences to the people of Emurua Dikirr, asking God to give the family strength during the difficult period.
Paul’s death comes less than six months after the death of his brother Johana, who was killed in a helicopter crash in Mosop, Nandi County, on February 28, 2026.
Johana was among six people who died when the helicopter crashed in the Chepkiep area. Parliament subsequently recorded his death and mourned him as a three-term MP for Emurua Dikirr.
The late lawmaker had represented Emurua Dikirr in Parliament since 2013 and was re-elected in 2017 and 2022. His death prompted tributes from leaders across the political divide, including President William Ruto, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and Gachagua.
Paul’s passing now leaves the Ng’eno family mourning another son within months, with Gachagua calling on God to grant the family peace and strength.
“May the soul of Paul Ng’eno rest in eternal peace, and may perpetual light shine upon him forever,” Gachagua said.
