Police Recover 300 Stolen Goats in Garbatula, Isiolo County

Date:

ISIOLO, Kenya – Police officers in Garbatula have successfully recovered 300 goats that were stolen from two local herders on Sunday.

The National Police Service (NPS) said five suspected rustlers reportedly abandoned the animals while fleeing from law enforcement.

“Upon receiving the report, officers from Garbatula Police Station responded swiftly and launched an immediate pursuit,” the NPS said. “The team tracked the stolen goats to the Malkandaka area, where the suspects abandoned them and escaped.”

The recovered livestock has since been safely returned to their rightful owners, while detectives continue efforts to apprehend the suspects.

The NPS added that authorities have stepped up operations to combat livestock theft in Isiolo, including intensified patrols, community collaboration, and intelligence-led interventions.

Livestock theft, often linked to organized rustling gangs, has been a persistent challenge in northern Kenya, prompting law enforcement agencies to adopt proactive measures to safeguard herders’ livelihoods.
