Kiambu Senator Karungo wa Thang’wa and Nyandarua Senator John Methu visited the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters on Kiambu Road to push for a swift investigation into the violence.
The incident reportedly involved hired attackers and led to the alleged abduction of ex-Limuru MP Peter Mwathi by police.
Speaking to the press, Thang’wa described the events as a state-orchestrated plot to harm Gachagua, claiming that hundreds of “goons” were ferried into the area from neighboring constituencies.
“This was a calculated attack aimed at eliminating Gachagua,” Thang’wa asserted. “We came here to demand urgent investigations into this incident, which was not random but a planned assault. The involvement of over 300 hired attackers from outside Limuru raises serious concerns.”
Thang’wa also expressed frustration over being denied an audience with DCI officials upon arriving at their offices, accusing authorities of stonewalling their efforts to seek justice.
Senator Methu painted a grim picture of the incident, claiming that Gachagua narrowly escaped with his life.
He further criticized the DCI for failing to provide information on the whereabouts of Mwathi, leaving his family in distress.
“Rigathi Gachagua is fortunate to be alive,” Methu said. “He’s shaken, and understandably so. Those behind this chaos are testing our resolve, but we remain steadfast in speaking up for justice and accountability.”
The violence at the burial has sparked an outcry from Gachagua’s supporters, who accuse state agents of targeting leaders in the Mount Kenya region.
