All Areas Expected To Experience Power Interruptions on Sunday

NAIROBI, Kenya – Kenya Power has announced scheduled power interruptions on Sunday, April 27, 2025, across several parts of the country to facilitate critical system maintenance.

The utility company has identified Nairobi, Nyeri, Mombasa, and Uasin Gishu as the counties that will be affected.

The interruptions will take place at various times between 8 am and 5 pm.

Nairobi

In Nairobi, power will be interrupted from 9 am to 5 pm in parts of the city, including Grain Bulk, Syokimau Railway Station, Complast, and adjacent customers.

Kenya Power has advised residents in these areas to plan accordingly, as the maintenance is necessary to ensure continued reliability of the power supply in the region.

Uasin Gishu

Uasin Gishu County will experience power interruptions from 8 am to 5 pm, affecting multiple locations, including:

  • Soy
  • Likuyani
  • Imbinga
  • Ivugwi
  • Lumino
  • Navilus
  • Kabobo Farm
  • Kipsomba
  • Tarakwa
  • Chemoset
  • Lugulu
  • Chemororoch
  • Furfural
  • Mawe Tatu
  • Nangili
  • Kongoni

Residents and businesses in these areas are advised to prepare for the planned outage and make necessary arrangements.

Nyeri

In Nyeri County, power interruptions will occur from 8 am to 5 pm, affecting a wide range of areas.

Some areas will experience power outages for the full duration, while others will be impacted between 8 am and 1 pm.

  • Wariruta Market
  • Sagan Falls Village
  • Mathaithi
  • Tegu C/Fact
  • Tumutumu Hospital
  • Ikonju
  • Gatomboya C/Fact
  • Wakamata Village
  • Mungaria Village
  • Kiangoma Village
  • Kiamuthanga Market
  • Safaricom Boosters
  • Airtel Boosters
  • Nyeri Town, including Kangemi, Asian Quarters, Witemere, Temple Road, Outspan Hospital, Golf Club, and Ring Road
  • Nyeri Polytechnic, Green Hills, Ciaraini, Muthuaini, Gitero, Kiandere, and Wandumbi
  • Thunguma, Skuta, Wambugu Farm, Micha, Chorong’i, Gatitu Market, Kagumo TTC, Kiamwathi, Wamagana, Kiandu, Giakanja, Makutano, Kaiguri, Gachatha, and more

These areas, including Kiamuiru, Kirimara Farm, and Seremwai, will also experience disruptions throughout the day.

Power will also be affected in King’ong’o Prison, Gamerock, Mt. Kenya Academy, and various other locations.

Kenya Power has assured residents that maintenance is essential for ensuring the continuous operation of the power grid in the region.

Mombasa

In Mombasa County, power will be interrupted from 9 am to 5 pm in several key areas, including:

  • Miracle Park
  • MICD
  • Kenya Railways
  • Cosole Base
  • Ligna
  • Total Depot
  • KMC
  • Uganda Properties
  • Kensalt
  • Bahati East
  • Changamwe Police
  • VTTI
  • Bangladesh
  • KTDA

Kenya Power has advised businesses and residents in these areas to plan ahead as maintenance work is carried out to improve service delivery.

Kenya Power’s scheduled power interruptions across Nairobi, Nyeri, Mombasa, and Uasin Gishu are part of ongoing efforts to maintain and enhance the country’s power infrastructure.
