News of Aringo’s passing emerged over the weekend, prompting an outpouring of tributes from teammates, fans, clubs, and rugby administrators across the country. The former Shujaa, Kenya Simbas, and Impala RFC player passed away on June 7, 2026, after a prolonged battle with health complications stemming from a major stroke he suffered in 2022.

He was 32 years old and just 17 days shy of his 33rd birthday.

The Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) led the tributes, describing Aringo as a dedicated athlete whose impact on Kenyan rugby extended far beyond the pitch.

In an official statement, the union expressed deep sorrow at his passing and celebrated his remarkable career, highlighting the qualities that made him a respected figure among teammates and opponents alike.

Aringo leaves behind a lasting legacy in Kenyan rugby, particularly for his role in one of the nation’s greatest sporting achievements.

Many rugby fans will remember Aringo as a member of the legendary Kenya Sevens squad that stunned the rugby world by winning the Singapore Sevens in 2016. The historic victory remains one of the greatest moments in Kenyan rugby history.

During the tournament, Kenya defeated rugby powerhouse Fiji in the final to claim its first-ever HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series Cup title. The achievement elevated Kenya onto the global rugby stage and inspired a new generation of players.

Aringo was part of the 2015–2016 Shujaa squad that achieved the feat, earning his place among the players who helped deliver one of the country’s most celebrated sporting victories.

Beyond his success with Shujaa, Aringo built a reputation as a hardworking and talented player at club and national level.

He represented Impala RFC with distinction and became one of the club’s most admired players. He also featured for the Kenya Simbas, further cementing his place within the country’s rugby landscape.

Aringo’s life took a dramatic turn in 2022 when he suffered a major stroke.

The medical emergency significantly affected his health and marked the beginning of a challenging recovery journey.

Following the stroke, Aringo relocated to Lwak to be closer to his family and access specialized care. Despite undergoing treatment and rehabilitation, he never fully regained his strength.

On June 7, 2026, Aringo passed away surrounded by his loved ones.

Following news of his death, tributes flooded social media as former teammates, clubs, supporters, and rugby officials shared memories of the former international.

Many remembered his role in Kenya’s historic Singapore Sevens victory, while others spoke about his humility, kindness, and dedication to the game.

Several former teammates described him as a dependable friend and a fierce competitor who always put the team first.
