MURANG’A, Kenya – The National Land Commission (NLC) has announced plans to compulsorily acquire 21.7 hectares of land owned by Del Monte Kenya Limited in Murang’a County for the construction of a wastewater treatment plant.
The proposed acquisition was published in Gazette Notice No. 13694 dated August 21, 2026, signed by NLC Chairperson Abdillahi Saggaf Alawy.
The Commission identified the affected property as L.R. No. 12158/3, registered in the name of Del Monte Kenya Limited.
According to the notice, the land is required for the construction of a wastewater treatment plant on Del Monte’s property in Murang’a County.
“National Land Commission calls upon persons who have an interest or claim in the land shown in the schedule here below, which the Commission intends to compulsorily acquire for purposes of construction of a wastewater treatment plant on Delmonte land in Murang’a County,” the notice states.
NLC sets September inquiry for Del Monte land
The NLC has scheduled a public inquiry into the proposed acquisition for September 16, 2026, from 10 am at Methi Chief’s Camp.
The inquiry will allow people with an interest or claim in the property to raise objections or provide information concerning the proposed acquisition, compensation and other relevant matters.
Persons seeking compensation have been directed to submit written claims accompanied by:
- A copy of their national identification card;
- KRA PIN;
- Land ownership documents; and
- Bank account details.
The documents can be submitted at the NLC offices at Ardhi House, 3rd Floor, Room 305, 1st Ngong Avenue, Nairobi, or through the Commission’s County Coordinator’s Office in Murang’a.
The Commission has also directed interested parties to inspect the plans for the affected property at its Nairobi offices or the Murang’a County Coordinator’s Office during official working hours.
Six Kajiado parcels also targeted for road project
In a separate gazette notice, the NLC announced plans to compulsorily acquire portions of six parcels in Kajiado County for the construction of the Ngong–Kiserian–Isinya and Kajiado–Imaroro roads project.
Under Gazette Notice No. 13687, the Commission said the acquisition would be undertaken on behalf of the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) pursuant to Section 110 of the Land Act.

The gazette notice lists the registered owners as TBD.
Kajiado land inquiry set for September 16
The NLC will conduct the public inquiry into the proposed Kajiado acquisition on September 16, 2026, from 10 am at Upper Matasia Chief’s Office.
The inquiry will consider the propriety of the proposed acquisition, compensation claims and other matters raised by affected parties.
Individuals seeking compensation have been instructed to provide written claims, identification documents, KRA PIN, land ownership documents and bank account details.
Companies with an interest in the affected properties will additionally be required to provide their certificate of incorporation, CR12, company KRA PIN, and identification and PIN details of their directors.
