OTTAWA, Canada — A Kenyan motorist is drawing attention across Canada after embarking on an ambitious overland journey spanning thousands of kilometres from the Atlantic coast to the Pacific in a Kenyan-registered Land Rover.
Kim Musau, a Kenyan driving enthusiast, is travelling from Nova Scotia through Ottawa and is expected to conclude his journey in Vancouver, crossing Canada’s vast and diverse terrain.
The journey has been highlighted by the High Commission of Kenya in Canada during a meeting hosted by Ambassador Carolyne Kamende Daudi at the Chancery Building in Ottawa.
Musau, who is associated with the handle Alpha Land Rover, is undertaking the cross-country expedition in a Kenyan-registered Land Rover — a vehicle widely recognised for its durability in off-road and expedition travel.
The sight of the iconic vehicle on Canadian highways has attracted curiosity and admiration, serving as a symbolic display of Kenyan identity abroad.
Diplomatic officials described the journey as a reflection of adventure, resilience, and cultural pride among Kenyans in the diaspora.
They also said it highlights the growing people-to-people connections between Kenya and Canada, alongside expanding informal cultural exchanges beyond official diplomatic engagements.
The Land Rover, historically associated with exploration across Africa’s savannahs and rugged landscapes, adds a strong symbolic layer to the journey as it navigates Canada’s long highways, mountain passes, and remote routes.

Officials said such individual initiatives contribute to strengthening Kenya’s global visibility in non-traditional spaces, including travel, culture, and adventure tourism.
The Kenyan mission in Canada noted that Musau’s journey has also drawn interest from members of the Kenyan community abroad, many of whom view it as a proud representation of national identity on international roads.
While the journey is personal in nature, it has evolved into a broader narrative of exploration and connection, resonating with themes of mobility, endurance, and cultural pride.
