NAIROBI, Kenya — The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has opened applications for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) courses for the May 2026 intake.
The placement body announced that the application window targets students who sat the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) in 2025 and previous years.
In a notice to candidates, KUCCPS said applicants can now apply for programmes offered in National Polytechnics, Technical Training Institutes, Institutes of Science and Technology, and other accredited technical colleges across the country.
Application process
Students have been advised to submit their applications through the KUCCPS Student Portal.
Applicants can access the platform via:
http://students.kuccps.ac.ke
KUCCPS noted that students with any KCSE mean grade are eligible to apply for different TVET programmes depending on the course requirements.
The application window will remain open until March 18, 2026, after which the placement process will begin.
Training for job-ready skills
TVET institutions in Kenya offer practical and technical training in fields including:
- Engineering
- Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
- Hospitality
- Construction
- Business studies
The programmes are designed to equip learners with the skills required in the labour market.
Role of KUCCPS
KUCCPS is a state corporation established under the Universities Act and is responsible for coordinating placement of government-sponsored students into universities, colleges, and TVET institutions.
The agency also provides career guidance programmes, shares information about available courses, and ensures equitable access to higher education opportunities.

Online placement platforms
KUCCPS operates several online portals to facilitate the placement process.
The Student Portal allows learners to:
- View institutions and available programmes
- Check minimum entry requirements
- Submit course applications
The Institution Portal, on the other hand, is used by university vice-chancellors and college principals to declare programme capacities and update institutional information.
KUCCPS also clarified that the School/Centre Application system, previously used by secondary schools to submit applications for students, was discontinued in 2023.
Students and stakeholders have been encouraged to use the digital platforms to access placement services and information on academic programmes offered across institutions.
