KITALE, Kenya- Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya on Saturday welcomed a delegation of the Linda Mwananchi movement led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna ahead of a series of public engagements across the county, as opposition leaders intensified grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The delegation was received in Kitale, where the leaders are expected to hold public rallies and meetings with residents to discuss governance, the economy and issues affecting livelihoods.
The visit forms part of the Linda Mwananchi movement’s ongoing nationwide outreach campaign, which has seen opposition leaders tour different regions to rally support around governance reforms, accountability and constitutionalism.
Speaking after receiving the delegation, Governor Natembeya welcomed the leaders to the county ahead of the planned engagements with residents.
The opposition leaders are expected to use the forums to outline their position on key national issues, including the rising cost of living, economic challenges and governance, as political realignments continue to take shape ahead of the next general election.
Senator Sifuna, who has recently emerged as one of the opposition’s prominent campaign figures, is expected to address residents alongside other leaders during the Western Kenya tour.
The visit comes amid heightened political activity across the country, with both the ruling Kenya Kwanza coalition and opposition leaders stepping up grassroots engagements as they seek to consolidate support ahead of the 2027 polls.
After the Trans Nzoia engagements, the Linda Mwananchi delegation is expected to proceed to Bungoma County as part of its Western Kenya tour, where similar public meetings have been scheduled with local leaders and residents.
The movement has in recent months expanded its presence across several counties, positioning itself as a platform advocating for improved governance, accountability and protection of constitutional principles while engaging wananchi on emerging national issues.
