NAIROBI, Kenya — Cooperatives and MSMEs Development Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya has commissioned a new saluting dais at the National Police Service College Embakasi B Campus in Nairobi, in a project supported by the Kenya National Police DT SACCO.
The commissioning ceremony held on Thursday brought together senior police leadership led by Inspector General Douglas Kanja alongside Deputy Inspectors General Eliud Lagat and Gilbert Masengeli.
Other senior officers present included General Service Unit Commandant Ranson Lolmodooni, National Police Service spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga, and Embakasi ‘B’ Campus Commanding Officer William Samoei.
Speaking during the event, Oparanya said partnerships between cooperative institutions and national security agencies play an important role in strengthening institutional capacity and improving officers’ welfare.
“The collaboration between the cooperative movement and national security institutions is a clear demonstration of the critical role partnerships play in nation building,” he said.
The Cabinet Secretary praised the Kenya National Police DT SACCO management for supporting welfare and development initiatives targeting police officers and their families.
Inspector General Kanja also underscored the importance of improving financial and social welfare for police officers, saying such initiatives contribute to a more motivated and effective police service.

“Empowering officers through sustainable welfare initiatives contributes significantly to a more responsive and effective police service,” Kanja said.
The newly commissioned saluting dais is expected to serve as a key ceremonial facility during police training parades, graduations, and official functions at the college.
Officials described the structure as a symbol of discipline, honour, and institutional tradition within the National Police Service.
According to police officials, the project also enhances the appearance and infrastructure standards of the Embakasi training institution.

Kenya National Police DT SACCO National Chairman David Mategwa said the SACCO remains committed to strengthening the socio-economic welfare of officers through financial services, empowerment programmes, and strategic support initiatives.
The SACCO has previously supported projects within the police service, including gymnasium facilities at Kiganjo, education support programmes, and other welfare initiatives targeting officers and their dependants.
The event was also attended by SACCO Chief Executive Officer Solomon Atsiaya, board members, and delegates.
